Esperanza Special Needs School, a registered Section 21 company, operates as a non-profit and non-governmental public benefit organization dedicated to the educational and developmental needs of children with disabilities and intellectual learning barriers.
Located in Newcastle, our school proudly serves a diverse community, with 90% of our enrolled children being Black South African.

At Esperanza, we rely entirely on fundraising efforts and the generous contributions of our community and business partners.
Every donation we receive is crucial, as it directly supports the operational and managerial needs of our school, ensuring that we can continue to offer vital services and education to our students.

OUR VISION

  • To provide a remedial facility for the community, in and around Newcastle by means of a self –funded (school fees, fund-raising, public sponsorships and donations) special needs school, for children from ages 3 years and up.
  • To provide boarding and day-care facilities.
  • To provide full therapeutic services including:
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech and Language therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Dietetics

OUR MISSION

  • To sustain a school for children in Newcastle with special needs and to provide an environment where they can grow to their full potential.
  • To enable children to return to mainstream education where possible.
  • To prepare children for entrance requirements for special high schools for those who cannot return to mainstream e.g. Tugela High School.
  • To prepare children for other further secondary training, where necessary.
